The Garden Taylors
Patio Project - Barton under Needwood, Staffordshire
This client required a redesign of the lawned area to the north of the house. There was a need for
year round interest with low maintenance planting and a desire to remove the lawned area to make it more practical
for outside eating and storage of a swing seat.
Their initial thoughts were to have the turf simply replaced by paving so we suggested making the area more decorative
with raised beds surrounding the area. The entrace to the lawn was via a pergola so we matched this pergola as best
we could with 2 new ones at either end of the area. These were used to support climbing roses and Clematis.
The garden is open to the public every summer to raise funds for the local church.
On the garden maintenance page, you can see how the pergola looks now.

At the shady end of the patio we added a stone bench
and steps for easy access to the raised beds.
